Hi Nancy:
Would anyone have easy recipe for Baked Beans in the Crock Pot (not using canned beans)
RT Halifax, MA.

The July 31 newsletter had a recipe for hot pepper vinegar that used chopped hot peppers. I still remember sleeping with my hand in a bowl of ice water after the first time I chopped hot peppers. Please use gloves! The juice will cause an invisible burning sensation on your skin for quite a while after chopping.

Hello, I love your recipes. Thank you. Would you please have any pressure cooker recipes? I bought a new one, and I am interested in good things to cook in it.
Thank you. Judy

Good morning all , this is an answer to Ann in Fl who asked in the July 31st newsletter about the potatoes in the Pork Chop and green bean dish. Ann, I just made that dish yesterday and I cut up 4 medium sized potatoes in chunks and mixed it in with the soup and milk. I used 2 cans of low fat cream of chicken soup, about a cup of milk and a small chopped onion along with the can of green beans. I browned the chops first and laid them on top and kind of pushed them down in the mixture a bit so they wouldn't dry out any. Next time I make it I'm going to use chicken tenders instead of the chops. Have a great weekend.

Hi Nancy,
This is for Lori in NE. I found some variations for the angel food cake mix in the June 26, 2006 newsletter. That went back always, didn't it? I did a search at the top of the page. Some of these really sound good. I have made a good many of them. Everyone likes them.

Everyone have a great day and thanks for the newsletter, Nancy. I enjoy it so much.

Good Morning All,
We enjoy this dish for lunch with a tossed salad. I have used orange peppers, slightly sweeter so possibly more calories. The peppers could also be served as a starter.

Low Fat Stuffed Red Peppers Recipe

Serves 2
Preheat oven to 180oC/350oF

2 large red peppers
1/2 onion, finely diced
1 tsp olive oil
1/2 pt/300ml stock, made up with half a vegetable stock cube
3 1/2 oz/100g basmati rice
8 oz/225g chopped canned tomatoes

Cut the top of the peppers and scoop out the seeds. Place the peppers cut side down on a plate and microwave on high for 5 minutes to soften the skin.

Lightly fry the onion in the olive oil. In another pan bring the stock to the boil and add the rice. Simmer rice covered, for 10 minutes, until most of the liquid has been absorbed. Add the tomatoes and cooked onion. Stir and remove from heat. Leave for 5 minutes.

Generously fill the peppers with rice. Place on a baking tray containing a little water.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Serve immediately with salad.

Tattie Scones Recipe
(potato scones)
This was a very popular breakfast dish when I was a kid, my mother would serve it with a fried egg. I play it by eye so my scones are approximate measurement and of course mine were never as good as my moms.

2.5 oz (approx. 2 Tbs + 1 level tsp)) flour
3 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 lb. (1 cup or 2 potatoes) boiled and mashed potatoes
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mash the potatoes while they are still warm and add the butter and salt. Add in enough flour to make it a pliable dough. the quality and type of potatoes will affect this (I use russet potatoes).

Turn the mixture out onto a floured surface and roll until it is about quarter of an inch thick. Cut into circles approx. six inches in diameter and then into quarters. Prick all over with a fork and cook in a heavy pan which has been lightly greased. Take care not to have the oil too warm or the scones will burn on the outside but remain raw on the inside. Cook each side for about three minutes or until golden brown.

Dear Nancy I am soI am so happy to be among such fine cooks! Daily I find recipes that I want to try and have tried many that I am so happy with. I am looking for a recipe for caramel popcorn--that you bake in the oven for awhile on a low temp. I am hopeful that someone out there has a good recipe.

For merFor merrymaryan in MN wanting to get lipstick out of laundry. If my memory serves me correctly, when I served at the Cathedral as an acolyte and/or served chalice, the ladies of the altar guild used Fels Naptha Soap to get lipstick out of the linens. I have a problem that I hope someone out there can help me with. I recently purchased a Christmas Bears Tapestry Wall Hanging from Home Shopping Network. It has Fiber Optic Lights embedded in it.

When it arrived there were no care instructions included with it. It is very wrinkled & the bottom edge is turned up also. I contacted HSN & they couldn't help me.
Does anyone out there have a suggestion on how to get the wrinkles out of this tapestry & smooth out the bottom edges without damaging the fiber optic lights? I thought about using a pressing cloth on the back side & ironing it, but was afraid to do that. Thanks for your help.

I would like to respond to the person requesting sources of spices on line. Try www.penzeys.com They are based in Wisconsin, but have stores all over, and are looking for areas to locate more. They have a catalog that is a wealth of information, and plenty of recipes also. I have ordered from them many times, and have visited one of their stores in Ct, oh, the smells that hit you as you enter!!! I have sticker shock every time I am in the grocery store and need a spice for a particular recipe that I don't ordinary have at home. I think their prices are very reasonable, and many weight options are available. This is very handy especially if you are making, for example, chili, that uses a lot of spices, or a recipe that you are trying for the first time and needs only a little. I love their soup bases, even turkey, ham, vegetable, pork and even seafood! Salad seasoning to make your own dressing. And, gift box assortments, well, I guess you can tell I like, really like this company, haha!! (no, I don't have any affiliation) just a happy consumer.

To the person that sent in the notice about tooth whitener, on 7/31/09. I too ordered and was charged nearly $80. I read the notice about the fourteen days, only they didn't state when the fourteen days began. When I contacted the bank and they called, we found out the fourteen days began when the order was received. They did not send the tooth whitener until the fourteen days had expired. My bank help me get most of my money back, but beware to everyone, "you don't get something for nothing!" Their is always a catch, but the tooth whitener does work.

Nancy and all the Nancyland family:
Nancy, I hope you see fit to put this on the recipe board. I'm asking for prayers for our dear sweet little 15 month old great-grandson Ben.

He will be operated on by a team of surgeons tomorrow morning (Saturday) at Strong Children's Hospital, in Rochester, NY, for a tumor on his kidney. This has all developed within the last week, and they feel that it is a malignant Wiln's tumor, although they cannot biopsy it due to the danger involved. The surgery will be 4 to 6 hours long, and they will be removing his kidney, the tumor that is now pressing on his stomach, and adrenal and lymph glands. This little blonde, blue-eyed happy little baby shows no signs of being ill, other then hypertension and a very large abdomen . The tumor is growing so very rapidly. I know prayers will help him, so please pray for him. We would appreciate it so much. Thank you.
