Chinese Almond Cookies

1 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 tsp. almond extract
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
blanched almond halves

Cream oleo, sugar and egg until fluffy. Add almond extract. Gradually add sifted flour, baking soda and salt, mixing well. Shape small amounts of dough into 1 inch balls.

Place on greased baking sheet. Flatten each ball into a thick cookie. Press almond halves into centers. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
