Oma's Grits Recipes

Oma's Cheese Grits Casserole Recipe

1 qt. milk
1/2 c. butter and 1/3 c. butter
1 c. grits
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
4 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 c. grated parmesan cheese

Bring milk to a boil. Add 1/2 cup of butter and stir in grits. Cook, stirring constantly until the mixture is the consistency of oatmeal, about 5 minutes. Remove grits from heat. Add salt and pepper and beat mixture well with an egg beater. Stir 1/3 cup of butter. Stir in the cheddar cheese and pour into a greased 2 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake at 350? for 1 hour

Oma's Garlic Cheese Grits Casserole Recipe

1 cup grits
4 cups water
1 t. salt
8 oz. Velveeta, cubed
1 stick butter
1/2 t. garlic powder
2 eggs, well beaten
1/4 cup milk

Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cook grits in salted water. When done, add cheese, garlic powder and butter. Mix well, until cheese and butter are melted. Stir in eggs, milk, and salt and pepper. Bake in a greased 1 1/2 qt. casserole for 40 minutes to 1 hour.
Serves 8.
