in Kutztown, PA.
Dutch Lettuce with Bacon Dressing Recipe
1 large head lettuce,
washed, dried & cut up ( about 12 cups)
1 small onion, chopped fine
3/4 cup each sugar & water
1/2 pound bacon, cut in
1 in. pieces
2 T. flour
In salad bowl combine
lettuce & onion; set aside. Beat eggs;
stir in sugar, water & vinegar. Fry
bacon until crisp; stir in flour & cook
until bubbly. Stir in egg mixture. Cook
& stir until mixture begins to boil &
thickens. Pour over lettuce mixture &
toss. Serve immediately.
servings. Note! This is very similar to
my family recipe. We do not use exact
measurements, however.I also put slices
of hard boiled eggs on top.
