In a large Dutch oven, combine
3 c sugar,
1 c buttermilk.
1 c butter or good quality margarine,
2 tbsp corn syrup,
1 tsp soda.
Heat, stirring constantly until boiling. Cook to 236*. Beat & cool until

Powdered buttermilk does not have to be mixed
separately. I just add the powder with my flour and the water with the my other
liquids and let it mix in the batter.
