Date Pudding Cake
1 c. brown sugar
5 tbsp. butter, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts
1 c. dates, cut
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Add baking soda to hot water and pour over dates. Combine eggs,
sugar and butter. Add water and dates. Mix well. Add nuts and
vanilla. Sift baking powder and flour together. Add to date mixture.
Bake in a 9 x 9 inch square dish or loaf pan at 375 degrees for 45
minutes or until done. Serve warm with whipped cream.
