2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
butter as needed
Sift together 2 cups all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in
shortening with fork until mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Add cup of milk
and blend lightly with for only until flour is moistened and dough pulls away
from the sides of the bowl. Turn out on lightly floured board. Kneed lightly (30
seconds) and roll 3/4 inch thick. Place on lightly greased pan and brush tops of
biscuits with butter. Bake at 475 degree F oven for 12-15 minutes.
